Arsenal vs chelsea, Premier League: Preview, team news, how to watch.
Saturday’s defeat in the FA Cup semifinals has confirmed a second consecutive trophyless season for Chelsea. Unsurprisingly, it’s the first time in two decades that we’ve gone that long without some silverware.
Just as in the League Cup final, we had come about as close as we could’ve without actually winning the game. Hard to win if you don’t score however, and we were made to pay once again for some rather familiar wastefulness in front of the opposition goal. We thought we had kicked the habit, but this was a shocking relapse in many ways.
Still, there are positives to be mined from a competitive performance against the best team in the land, which perhaps will give us a bit of confidence in trying to actually win a game against one of the top three this season.
And while spoiling things for Arsenal would be amusing in and of itself, it’s not like we have nothing left to fight for ourselves. Three points would get us right back into the thick of the top-six race. That’s not a trophy, but it’s an achievable target nonetheless.
